Our Commitment to Accessibility

At Cascade we believe the web is better for everyone when it's built to be accessible by everyone. We are committed to ensuring that our site and the code we build is usable for everybody, regardless of ability. Developing elements, pages, and sites that strongly consider and aspire to exceed Level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 is important to us. We recognize that this stated intent comes with some changing unknowns. How to code in ways that meet those guidelines change with technology and can often conflict with other considerations, including visual design and available resources. Additionally, we are people who are on a journey to evolve our knowledge of best and most helpful development practices.

We're proud of the accessibility-focused efforts on our own site, which are ongoing, with the goal to make our website accessible to everyone. The accessibility features we've built include:
  • Helpful alternative text for images that are not solely decorative
  • Accurate and semantic page structures, including a proper hierarchy of headings (h1, h2, etc.) and a use of landmarks
  • Full keyboard navigability
  • ARIA attributes to provide additional context and information for visitors using assistive technology
  • Form labels
We view our site's accessibility as an important ongoing effort and welcome feedback and suggestions in order to improve the accessibility of our site. If you have difficulty using or accessing any element of our website or have any feedback, please feel free to contact us by phone at 503-517-2700.
