As we wrote about back in March, tomorrow Google will roll out an update to mobile search algorithms, giving precedence to websites that the search engine sees as mobile optimized.
According to one study, mobile devices will make up for half of paid search clicks by the end of the year, making it more important than ever to earn Google’s “mobile friendly” badge.
Some important details about Google's new search algorithyms:
- Google generates 88% of all web searches as of January 2015, which means optimization for Google's search listing specificially is very important for any website.
- Google will not remove your site from search results if your site is not optimized.
- Upon moving to a mobile friendly design, changes on Google's end will appear quickly.
Of course, Google hasn’t left site owners without some good resources to move toward mobile friendliness. If you’re concerned that your site will be affected in search rankings on mobile devices, fire up Google on your phone and search for your website. If your site has a 'Mobile Friendly' badge next to it, your site is ready for the adjustment. Alternatively, you can use Google’s handy
Mobile-Friendly Test tool. Keep in mind that as you move toward mobile responsive web sites that we are always here to help.
