April SEMpdx Event Recap - A Great Turnout!

Last night we checked out the sites at SEMpdx’s April event: SEO 101. Cheers to Kevin Getch, Kevin Bekker and Alex Peerenboom, for comprising a panel of SEO experts and delivering some valuable information to the crowd. And bravo to the three companies who volunteered to have their websites reviewed by the panel -- that resulted in some insightful conversation.

Aside from the value of Google Plus, which seems like there’s been an increase in publicity about lately, one of the many takeaways we wanted to share from last night was the Site Auditor feature from raventools.com. This resource audits your website’s SEO and creates a report regarding content, meta data, link issues and then some. A great tool for pinpointing problem areas for you to address accordingly.

As stated at the beginning of the evening, SEO is always changing (e.g., Google’s new title tag guidelines), so “back-to-basic” meetups like these are great for newbies entering the ring and seasoned pros to hear about the latest trends and topics. It’s also a great chance to connect with and meet other Portland colleagues.

Thanks to SEMpdx for putting this on and Puppet Labs for the hospitality -- great space, you guys.
