Welcome Summer to the Crew

Summer joined the team this week as an intern for the Spring/Summer. She'll be graduating from U of O's School of Journalism this June with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and we're more than happy to have her aboard (pun intended). Followiong new hire protocol, we put her through some rigorous questioning:

Last movie you saw in the theater

Silver Linings Playbook (so good!)

Dream aspirations as a kid

I honestly thought I was part mermaid when I was in elementary school but dream-wise, a wizard (blame the Harry Potter books… haha)

If you could be any superhero, who and why

I would want to be aquaman because he can talk to fishes and swims with the sharks! And I love swimming.

Free trip to anywhere in the world, where and why

Oh, that’s hard. Probably New Zealand (because you can hop over to Australia and hang out with the kangaroos and it’s absolutely a beautiful country with plenty of things to do)

Ever been in a fight, if so who started it

Never have been in a physical fight but I did break up a physical fight between a bunch of college guys and eventually broke it up.

Favorite restaurant in Portland

I would have to be bias and say my Mom’s house  but I’m waiting to find out where in Portland is going to be my favorite. Right now, I really like Andina’s.

Biggest fear

Oversized spiders. Or losing my family.

Nickname you had growing up

Buttmunch. You can thank my older brother for that. But my friends in high school and college nicknamed me “Sum” for short.

What attracted you to working at Cascade

What attracted me to Cascade was the culture, the atmosphere with Ben, Kyle, Chris and Graeme, the job description and the location. I believe I can certainly benefit the company with my technical skills and executing various assignments with efficiency and an eye for detail. ??Oh, but what really caught my eye and made me want to work here was the ski coat rack. From that moment on, I knew I was going to be working at the right company with the right crew.

Career goals

Video production, whether that be in films, television, documentary work or for advertising/marketing agencies. My goal is to become a video editor and working for a production company, preferably in the entertainment industry.
