Business Challenge and Objectives: Custom Web Applications have changed the landscape for project management and communication between locations. Home construction as a whole has been slow to adapt. Many companies are simply using modified spreadsheets to manage their business process. Touchstone builds over 150 new homes per year. In November 2006 they were referred to Cascade Web Development by another successful home construction client, Don Morissette Homes. Touchstone was looking for a better system to track and manage projects.

Implementation: CWD employed the strategy phase to clearly define project requirements and budget. We started with basic screen drawings and evolved those to a live solution. The application uses the EvergreenTM  data management system to organize project management, data collection and reporting. Now, the project managers, supers, office staff and owners can look at one solution to see a snapshot of their construction cycle. And, the solution is all web based so they can access it from remote locations!

Results: The success of the application for Touchstone lead to the implementation of a similar solution for Trans West Housing. Trans West now uses the solution to manage 100+ condos and custom homes. In addition, the application has helped increase communication and collaboration between the offices in Portland and California.
