Provvista Specialty Foods Inc

Summary

Provvista Specialty Foods Inc is one of those companies where you use their products nearly everyday but might not know they exist. Provvista sells domestic and imported food items to specialty grocers, bakeries, schools, and a variety of organizations. The company's previous website was becoming a pain to manage and was in need of a new design. Another pain point was their product search feature which was in need of an overhaul. Working with Sasquatch Agency (design) and Edible Software (product database), we were able to produce a website that is not only visually appealing to the average viewer but also eliminates Provvista's site management frustrations.

Amongst other features, here are a few that were especially important to the new site.

Category Search

Provvista's previous search feature was functional, however it wasn't the most intuitive or user friendly tool. We worked to develop a solution that delivers a predictable user experience while maintaining a highly customized design and allows the viewer to dynamically sort through a database with thousands of products using a variety of filters.

Product Management

Provvista's entire product line is housed and managed within Edible's product database. Provvista, however, wanted some additional product management capabilities to be included in their evergreen CMS. We, in collaboration with Edible, set up a XML feed to send product information from their system to ours on a nightly basis or triggered manually by a site admin. This feed allows site admins to manipulate how and where the product information is displayed. For example, site admins can now select Monthly Specials, New Products, and a Featured Product simply by selecting from a list of their products. They can also upload product images and assign rankings to each products to dictate their display on these "featured" pages.
