Summary

Capital Bikeshare places thousands of bikes at the fingertips of commuters across Washington, DC and Arlington, VA. With similar services in Montreal, Syndey, the Twin Cities and across Europe, the program allows people to rent bikes for a day, month or year through various bike stations and return them to an entirely different station throughout the city. As bike enthusiasts and regular bike commuters, the cascade team was extremely excited to collaborate with Alta Bicycle Share on this project to help bring the website to life.

The Capital Bikeshare website, operated on Wordpress, is a front end promotional website that allows site administrators to make easy updates and manage content on each page. The back end of the site features robust API intergration with a third party software that allows members of Capital Bikeshare to access their profiles, track mileage and manage their sensitive account information. A user intuitive Google Map also helps members locate Bikeshare stations throughout the DC whether they're planning their trip from home or searching for a landing spot on their mobile phone. A local DC designer created a great look and feel for the site that helps promote the sustainability, fitness and fun energy behind the entire project.
